La Locanda Gesù Vecchio

Located near the University of Naples is the brightly lit, cozy gem La Locanda Gesù Vecchio. The friendly staff and classic jazz tunes at this 12 or less table restaurant allures locals and foodies effortlessly. Guests instantly feel relaxed and at home when observing the faux Italian pergola, the carefully arranged upside down lamps hanging from the ceiling, the subtle animated bookshelf wallpaper and the neatly organized wine bottles above the tables. Their signature, “obligatory” charcuterie boards called Taglieres provide a nice spread of various Italian cheeses, cold cuts, other crudités and fried finger foods depending on the starter you select. You can’t go wrong with their Neapolitan classics like the Gnocchi Allo Scarpariello and Spaghetti Alla Purveriello.

Notable Mentions

Michelin: “This restaurant right in the historic centre oozes authentic Neapolitan style thanks to its friendly atmosphere and the warm welcome from its young owner. Here, guests enjoy the best Neapolitan cuisine, including specialities such as the delicious Genovese ragù, a white sauce which, despite its name, is a speciality of Campania.”
