Maison Dandoy

Maison Dandoy has been making their famous Belgium waffles since 1829. Although the shops can be found through out Brussels, the tearoom is the location to experience the warm delicious treat and is considered to be one of the best in town. They offer two types of "gauffres," the Bruxelles is the traditional rectangle shape most of us know by; there is also the liege, the round waffle baked with sticky sugar. Whatever one you go with, the beloved snack can be topped with fruit, chocolate, powdered sugar, whipped cream and even ice cream. We suggest you indulge a little and order one of each. You never know when you'll be back in town for this one of a kind munchie. Just don't go and order a "Belgian Waffle."

Notable Mentions

AFAR: “Maison Dandoy has been baking delicious treats in Brussels since 1829 and you’ll find their famous shops scattered around Brussels. Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by the sights and smells of crunchy biscuits (cookies) looking much as they have since the shop began.”

Frommer’s: “Dandoy is still the place for sweet-toothed treats after nearly 2 centuries. Sample the traditional Belgian house specialties: spicy cinnamon and brown-sugar speculoos cookies, still baked traditionally in wooden molds, or blow off the diet and choose organic ice cream in an array of flavors, crispy waffles coated with jam and cream, or gingerbread made to an ancient recipe with honey.”
